Spring in Seoul

We had lots of activities & celebrations this past spring. Enjoy the pictures...

Our 6th Annual King Family Easter Egg Hunt.

Can't forget the traditional bunnies cakes.

Brent & I finally got to use our Christmas presents- Coldplay tickets!

So, the crowd sat. Like not one person was standing up. The girl beside me told me it wasn't safe for old people! The first 30 minutes or more were kinda surreal, but when Viva La Vida came on, folks couldn't stay still anymore. Thank goodness!

Just a few people trying to get home.

The next morning was Easter!

And I was still annoyingly shooting pics of the cherry blossoms.

Our house on the hill as seen from the commissary.

Vice President Pence was in town. I was asked to help serve a meal at the chapel the night before that he attended and got to meet him. But the next day, we grabbed the kids from school and took them to an embassy meet and greet. Hayden loves ties.

G getting an autograph on Daddy's business card.

More pretty flowers. I know. I can't help myself when it comes to sleeping babes and flowers.

We visited a palace we'd hadn't been to yet- Changdeokgung.

It was very pretty and the grounds were expansive and lush.

When we were finished, we got an ice cream cone. Hayden's face has looked like this since 2012.

Grant performed in his school spring concert.

Heading out for another adventure!

Hayden got a super short cut highlighting all his many cowlicks.

First stop: The Trick Eye Museum. It's basically a photoshoot adventure.

Hilarious!

And then the ice portion of the museum.

Have you been in one of those walk-in freezers? That's what it felt like. We lasted about 3 minutes.

Brrrrr!!!

One last tragedy as we were leaving.

We came across these stores. One for me and one for Brent.

Colter had been patiently waiting to visit a dog café.

Not much better than the cat café if you ask me. They just peed all over! The workers cleaned it up quickly, but the damage had been done to me. Bleh.

I maybe should have been jealous of how much this poodle loved Brent.

Hayden & Grant didn't like the dogs jumping on them and we couldn't even get G into the big dog area, but Colter was happy to finally get to check it out.

Another day, we went to Gangnam. This statue will look familiar to you if you've seen the Gangnam Style video!

Then a stroll through Bongeunsa Temple.

The boys baked me this lovely birthday cake.

Then the twins had their concert.

Colter wanted to carry the flag in the Parade of Nations at the school's International Bazaar like big brother did last year.

The boys found a neat little restaurant to take me to for Mother's Day.

Love these boys!!!

Brent was playing photographer. I love this picture of the city.

We all had fun at field day. Go Team Orange!!

Ok, he's not asleep, but he's still precious.

Brent took me to the Shilla hotel for my birthday. My friend kept the boys and we enjoyed a night of luxury.

Including a dip in the pool.

And Brent's contact surprised us with a birthday cake.

This was the view from our room. Can you see where they were setting up for a wedding?

One view from the club lounge.

The food was yummy.

All too quick, it was time to get the boys.

After a birthday party, our buddy Caleb came over to work on a class project with Grant.

I had to say goodbye to my little friends at the orphanage.

Brent took the boys on an overnight boys trip to Muuido Island about an hour away from the house right by the airport. You have to take a quick ferry ride to get there.

They stayed at Hanagae Beach in a small cabanas.

Look how far the tide goes out at night!

Brent and I have been teaching Sunday School to the K-2nd graders once a month. Mr. Brent does such a good job at bible story time.

After church, we went out for some "bingsoo" (an elaborate Korean shaved ice dish) that we had yet to try. It's amazing!

We were invited to the school's awards ceremony because one of our boys was going to be receiving an award.

It was Colter! He was awarded the Honor Code award in his class! Hayden later told us that he was so happy for Colter that he almost cried. Sniff, sniff.

I made one last kids-free trip to the fabric market. I love looking at everything.

And, before we knew it, it was the last day of school! I love to see what they pick to wear when they have a dress down day.

We celebrated by going bowling with a few of our school buddies and their families. Owen, Caleb,

and Hannah.

It's been weird seeing school end & watching friends go and still having almost 2 months left in Seoul. We took a quick trip to China and participated in VBS. Our last few weeks have been hot, rainy (equally swampy) & now we're 6 days away from moving! I'll try to post about China soon!
