Check out our last two days in China...
Day 4: The Great Wall. They say nothing's sacred anymore.
Yep, that's a Subway at the Great Wall.
We went to the Mutianyu section and took a chairlift up to the wall.
One way down was this cool alpine slide. Supposedly Michelle Obama rode it on her visit.
The lift and the slide.
Our fist glimpse of the wall.
I tried to take pictures showing that this section was nearly vertical and almost like climbing a ladder.
Good thing they still have a little mountain goat in them.
Taking a break. We took a few.
What a cool thing to visit!
And unfortunately it rained a little while we were up there so the slide was closed. My biggest boy was the most disappointed.
I know this doesn't look safe, but those steps wore him out!
Grant is not tired.
You don't scare me. I invented that face.
After the wall (and a car nap) we headed over to the Summer Palace.
We took the dragon boat across the lake.
We got off the boat and walked back around to the entrance.
Our last stop was the 2008 Olympic Park. Seem here, The Bird's Nest.
And in a total "touron" (tourist+moron, get it?) moment, we couldn't figure out how to get in!
I took a picture of these pretty flowers to soften the blow.
Our last morning, we went back to the Hutong area for a little exploring.
Donkey burger anyone??
Like I said before, we didn't find Mulan, but we did find a store with a lucky cricket.
This is Tobacco Alley where there were more shops and restaurants.
Yummy waffles on a stick.
These guys can't even eat in peace. I've just started taking their pictures too. I think it's weird that they want a picture with my boys so I act weird too like I want their picture. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
Not quite as yummy as the waffle sticks, but still good.
I mean, China has waving cats, why can't Tokyo?? After we were done, we went back to our hotel to clean up a bit before our flight.
And a 2 hour, non red-eye feels so luxurious these days! We've got that long one over the Pacific coming up in a few days...
Good trip, glad to be back!
Two shout-outs to China: 1. Because we are loyalty members and requested 2 adjoining rooms, we got a free upgrade (like the kind you hear about, but don't believe is actually true, nothing that good ever happens kind) and we stayed in the nicest rooms that maybe we ever have. 2. Chinese folks (ok, most Asians) love that we have 3 boys. Nobody asks when we're having a girl, no body says, "three boys?!, bless your heart", they all act like I'm special. And I am ;).
