Spring Break Part 1: Bryce, Zion & Vegas

For Spring Break, our original thought was to take the boys to Disneyland, but we couldn't just stop there. I convinced Brent that we should go on a good old fashioned American road trip vacation just like I used to as a child. So we hit the road for 11 days, visiting 4 states and 4 national parks (and Disneyland of course). Here are a "few" of my way too many pictures:

First stop, Bryce Canyon National Park. Love how Colter is crying because he doesn't have a junior ranger vest like Grant.

Mommy made them stand in the mud for this photo op. Oops!

Hiking through the canyon on the Sunrise to Sunset Trail.

You had to pass through several tunnels & the boys loved it!

Saying hi to the locals on our way out.

Second stop, Zion National Park. This place is awesome. Definitely a family favorite.

Hiking to The Narrows.

Cutest junior rangers in town.

This is Angels Landing- a hike that only Brent did because it's not recommended for kids. Or the weak at heart either (look closely for the hikers)....

...they're holding on to the chain to traverse the sheer cliff.

Hikers climbing up the spine and across the top of the rock. See what I mean?!

And a view of the lovely switchbacks he took to get up to the spine.

See that white dot in the center of the picture? At least he wasn't doing that.

This tunnel is on the east side of the park and is one of the coolest I've ever been in. It is a little over a mile long and has absolutely no lights. However, they did blast out some "windows" when it was constructed in the 1930s for some awesome views of the canyon.

See what I mean?

Can you see the tunnel window?

My favorite view in the park- The Watchman and the Virgin River. My camera doesn't do it justice.

After Zion, we continued to head west. We were surprised to be in Arizona as the interstate dips down for a bit through a beautiful canyon.

Made a quick stop in Las Vegas & stopped by this place. I probably watch this show too much.

Grant was looking for the old man.

And Dad tried to make our vacation free, but his dollar didn't go far!

We had to try Serendipity's frozen hot chocolate. Yummy, but not worth $10 each!

And we caught a water show at the Bellagio before continuing west.

Next stop, California!
