As promised, our first hiking experience in Korea:
We were told that we would like Korea because Koreans really love to hike. That is true, but they do it a bit different than us. First of all, the are decked out & geared out. No matter the size of hike, they make boy scouts look unprepared.
We rode the bus to the park. My family looked kinda sloppy.
The Breckenridge of Korea ;).
The boys were mad because we weren't hiking, we were "just walking up a road".
We came across this...
And they loooved seeing that there are cairns in Korea too!
We explored a bit around this Buddhist statue.
There were 10,000 small figures surrounding the big guy.
Hayden was curious about all "the babies" again.
We saw a little fall colors.
After lunch, we pushed to the summit- getting close!
Views of Seoul.
So, since we took a different way down, this was pretty much what the route looked like. Not hiking on "just a road" now.
Summit!
Heading down.
Cool parents or stupid parents? I felt like both the entire time down. But definitely went with cool once we were all safely down.
May be hard to tell in the picture, but there were several trees/branches with smooth spots from where they were used as a hold. It was one way to know you were descending in the right spot.
Had lots of crazy looks this day, 1. We weren't dressed the part, 2. Our kids were the only kids we saw all day, 3. This was such a crazy hard descent that the locals liked to stop and watch us get down! Most couldn't speak any English, but several said "dangerous", "hard". "ohhhh" (like good luck with that one), and a few even giggled. No worries though. My boys killed it. Daddy & I were so proud!
