We had a few more days of fun with our cousins. We never stopped. I like to give them their money's worth.
Sunday morning we were up and at 'em early so we could hike to the giant golden Buddha before the ball game.
Posing at a small temple along the way.
I had no problem getting some group pictures from the rear. Colter acted like he'd never hiked before.
We made it!
America- these are pretty cool. Post hike air blowers to get the dirt off your shoes. Or to blow in your cousin's face. You pick.
And post hike snack for the adults- kimbap.
Haley chose ramen while the other kids picked a candy bar.
Our long ride back home. The Howard kids loooved riding the subway. Almost as much as the Beavers kids.
Noksapyeong Station- the closest one to our house. The boys love the white stairs that play music, even after a long hike.
Next up- Introducing our OKC Thunder fans to Seoul's Samsung Thunders.
We had great seats!
Ahhhh. If only....
We won lots of prizes. A pizza,
...a basketball...
...and a shirt.
Since G won a shirt, he got to go on the court and get an autograph after the game with one of the players.
He had given the shirt to Haley since he already had one at home, but when the cheerleaders came looking for him to claim the rest of the prize, we threw it on! I made sure the whole crew got to meet the player.
And we can't forget the cheerleaders. I know my nieces are big Thunder Girl fans back home!
And Thomas. He took his ball and tore it up. The announcer was still on the court and was quite impressed with this 4 year old.
The cousins and their fan club after the game.
Not the NBA, but still such a fun time with all our basketball lovers.
Monday we sent Uncle Brent to work and the boys to school. Our first stop was the Korean War Museum. Which was closed! But, you can still walk the grounds and see all the retired equipment.
For lunch we went to Linus' Bama Style BBQ. Thomas was an eager and willing participant to wear the plastic finger covers for rib eating. I think they're hysterical! My brother later Facebooked that lunch may have been the best BBQ he ever had. You're welcome.
We then headed over to Gangnam. Charley just loved all the spectacular shoes in the subway.
Lucas had asked to see some "Korean technology stuff". This place was so cool. It's the Samsung D'light- an interactive show room on the two floors above a giant Samsung shop. Local friends- check it out!
The girls checking out an awesome television. Yes please!
Charley's first interaction.
I can't really articulate this stuff. Thomas used his hands to trace an image from afar, it took lots of pictures, produced this image and labeled him active based on the image. I see some creepy ghosts in some of these pictures!
Then we built our planets.
Lucas gave it a try.
Shopping high-end refrigerators.
Part of the exhibit.
Upstairs was all home & lifestyle displays. The whole exhibit is white, but when you picked up a tablet and moved it around, you saw what it could be. Mind.Blown.
Keep dreaming bro.
Back home for the boys and back out for gacha balls (little vending machines with toys). A King boy fave. And maybe a King mama fave.
No caption needed. Favorite picture of the week.
Strolling down Itaewon and made a stop in this store that only sells Jordans. Had to pull these two out. Unfortunately empty handed.
And then Joy throws a curveball and buys some grilled squid off the street!
Aunt Rachel promised some Street Churros.
Yum, yum!
Tuesday morning we left the house early to ride the high speed train to the southern town of Ulsan to tour the Hyundai factory. This calls for a selfie!
Our tour stopped at a few places first to learn about the automobile industry in Ulsan. Seen here is their first car, the Pony.
This place makes molds. I may or may not have made that brown one fall off the wall.
We had a lunch break. Joy ordered this after looking at all the plastic food samples. The flakes on top of her noodles were moving.
But she liked it!
Lucas got a bulgogi burger. I think it was similar to the white hotdog he ate in Ecuador. Ask him about it.
Finally at Hyundai. We were not allowed to take pictures outside of this show room, but this is what the dock looks like. They manufacture and ship over 5,000 cars a day. Every single day. Watching the drivers zoom to the ship was quite impressive.
Here's a model of Uncle Brent's Korean ride. However, his is a bit past it's prime. Three words- leather tufted ceilings. Ok, three more- reclining rear seats. It's pimp. And ghetto. All at the same time.
Our ride for the day.
I thought we could take pictures here. But I was told I was wrong. Anyway, these wheels are brand spankin' new.
Next was Hyundai Heavy Industries- the world's largest ship building company. Besides noting that Thomas tried to crawl around the back of this diorama, it's the only picture I was allowed to take. Touring the yard was maybe the coolest thing I've seen in Korea.
Catching the KTX train back to Seoul.
For their last full day, we sent Joy & Lucas on a DMZ tour and we stayed home and played hooky, played with cousins and packed for vacation.
After her modeling debut, Hae Lee picked out her very own hanbok for her souvenir and she modeled again.
We had one last night of fun...Aunt Joy bought some pottery on Itaewon & we grabbed some chimaek (popular chicken & beer restaurants).
Uncle Brent met us from work. Isn't he so handsome?! ;)
Last surprise...
...Norabang!
Norabang is Korean karaoke. You rent your own private room and have at it. I think the kids were too exhausted to grasp it's awesomeness. Except our rock star Colter. Look, he's in heaven.
Brent started it off for us.
These 2 with the mics. I think one day they might be a popular duo. It's definitely their calling!
Love this! For those of you who know Lucas well, you can hear it, right?!!
T lasted 5 minutes.
We selfied again. This time it looks like B has a target on his head!
Thomas, are you having fun?
I'm still laughing! We had a BLAST here. And the parents definitely hogged the mic all night!
Pre-flight waffles.
Time to send them home. Thanks for coming Howards!!
Awww, so sad to see ya go. See you later!!! XOXO
This trip was awesome and exhausting and we left several hours later for our spring break vacation.
Great, great memories!!!
