The Three Little Kings are in school! Grant has started another year at YISS and my sweet little babies have left the nest and started their school adventure with first grade also at YISS. I love being alone to shop, socialize, volunteer, & clean (I once read that cleaning with children was like brushing your teeth while eating Oreos). But it's a long day without them & I miss them so much. It's taking lots of snuggles and retail therapy to cope ;).
Check out their first day...
All smiles after the first half day. But before...
..we met our teachers. On the questionnaire about favorite foods, Colter wrote ketchup.
One guess for Hayden...snow leopard!
Colter was happy to explore his new classroom...
...Hayden was not.
Up to third grade to meet G's teacher.
And one last celebration of the summer- Daddy's birthday!
Happy Birthday, B!
Now, first day of school. Always starts with Aunt Bridget's coffee cake.
It was so hazy that my pictures look foggy!
He did better than I expected. When we woke him up, he insisted that he couldn't go because he wasn't six yet, but was soon distracted with a smoothie. I wasn't born yesterday.
Walking to the bus stop.
Ready! (whether mama is or not!)
I just put 3/4 of my world on that bus & sent them off. Sniff.
Having the first day of school a half day is genius! I barely had time to miss them!
All smiles as we head out to lunch & a movie.
Day 2 and still smiling.
Had to pull out my inner June Cleaver for their first after school snack. Don't be jealous. Haven't done anything cool since.
Grant tackling his reading homework.
I guess it's official!
Colter did tell me last week that I should get a job since I don't do anything now. Yes, I let him live and yes we'll work on that before I send him out into the world.
Yay and boo all at once for your boys growing up and going off to school without you! Also, because I'm obvisouly a nerd - is that a yellowstone park geyser sign hanging on your wall?
