This was our fall 2016...
Second year of soccer for Grant & Colter; first year for Hayden.
Hayden didn't want to play.
Like for real.
Five minutes after our first soccer practice, the wall jumped out and hit Colter, resulting in an ER visit and four staples.
Ouch!
Finally home, fed & asleep. Deja vu?
Yep. This was him nearly 365 days prior.
But, we healed (the attitude for the one on the left, & the head wound for the one on the right) and played our first game.
Pretty cool setting- military choppers taking off from the helo pad on the next field.
Grant taking a turn at goalie.
Why does he look so old?!
Back out on the field and goal!!
Brent & I are not big soccer fans, but this kid is fun to watch.
Another Saturday, another game.
Believe it or not, Hayden actually enjoyed playing!
And being weird.
Yep, weirdo.
He focused occasionally.
Helicopter's back.
G, working his magic, scorin' goals.
Then, Hayden & I snuck in a little date to the movies.
And then, 13 days after brother, Hayden got his very own visit to the ER.
He was jumping on my bed, landed on my nightstand, busted both sides of his lip, fractured a tooth and displaced another. These are the two most non-graphic pics.
He spent the week home with me. Grocery shopping was soooo embarrassing with a busted face.
We did, however, get to visit a Korean pediatric dentist- the best part of this whole ordeal. An exam and x-ray cost the equivalent of $15 (& that's out of pocket!).
The end of the week found us a the boys' school for Fun Fest. We're really going to miss YISS next year.
Korea has a professional basketball league & the Seoul team is the Samsung Thunders. They stopped by the base to play an exhibition game. We were Thundered Up!
Their 2 American recruits who were so much fun to watch. The KBL recruits foreigners to their teams in hopes of making the games more exciting. There is a limit of two non-Koreans per team.
He got a shirt & all their autographs!
His sweet little face started looking better and better.
Next up: Halloween!
Can you guess?!
It's Hayden!
G was a "Pumpkin Head Skeleton from Minecraft". Ok, sure.
His buddy, Caleb, joined us.
Daddy got home from a work trip to Mongolia just in time to go trick or treating with us. Check out these cool hats! Mama got some cashmere gloves.
Pluto's ready!
We enjoyed pizza with friends before and checking out our loot after.
Hayden's buddy, Adelaide.
The morning after trick or treating, we went to Seoul Forest to take advantage of the nice weather.
How cool is this structure?! See the boys in the knee?
There are so many great playgrounds here.
Weeeee!!!
We walked through a botanical garden & checked out the specimens. Grant loves the beetles because it reminds him of this picture...
.....at Mitad del Mundo (the equator in Quito) back in 2009. Can you believe I let Uncle Jimmy put those living Amazon creatures on my baby?!!
Oh, Colter. Or like he tells us- Col tey o- his Korean name.
Grant's look- I'm not a baby. Or a girl!
Cutie.
We went to see the Thunders play a real game.
It was so fun! But there were no concession stands! My kids acted like they may starve to death!!
Our last weekend of soccer.
Colter's so serious!
Just one more game left (Grant's) then we were headed home to pack for our vacation to Japan.
This kid play his heart out. He runs at 100%. Something I'm thankful for since he didn't walk until he was 16 months. I thought maybe he would just be lazy.
But not when that intensity lands you your spot in the King Boys ER Visits of 2016- (about 12 hours before wheels up on aforementioned vacation).
Unfortunately, a severely sprained foot for G. We packed up our things, stressed about his pain (me), his limited mobility (dad) and headed to the airport the next morning. And, I just couldn't do it. He had very little pain relief and was just miserable so I told Brent to take the twins and go without us. At the airport!! Colter kissed me like he was never going to see me again. I cried (silently) back home. I cried for Grant. I cried for my missed vacation. I cried for the thought of my babies in another country for 8 days.
Things got worse here before they got better. We had to make another trip to the ER (that's 4, if you're counting) for pain management a few nights later.
And I could have kissed that doctor for giving him something strong enough to knock him out! So, 4 1/2 weeks later, he was finally walking again.
Brent did great with the twins and they had a wonderful time in Japan and we all survived. You can check out his blogging debut here: Japan Post, Japan Post 2
And, he just booked us tickets to Tokyo in April. A little make-up trip for me and my G.
