Spring Break 2016

Tricked ya! If you are still in awe of our Cambodia trip and you wanted to see more, I got ya. Daddy didn't whisk us off to lands unseen. Some people have to work I've been told.

Confession- I was really tempted to post my woes about how I accidentally deleted my iPhone last week. Like "here was our fun spring break -wait- I'm retarded and erased them all- (no pictures to follow). I was sad. Because I LOVE my pictures. After a day of moping, and recovering quite a bit of photos from family, all is not completely lost. Although, I am reminded of my love/hate relationship with technology - the same technology that keeps me in touch with all you great people across the world. And speaking of, what a first world problem it is (as I like to say). Technology can be ridiculously easy and dangerously complicated. They'll give any idiot an iPhone and Face Book account.

To start our spring break, we took a little one night trip to Danyang and I have some pictures to show you because I took all of these on my "real" camera...

We took a short boat trip on Lake Chungju.

I bet this area is pretty in the fall. Sometimes I think, "would it kill this country to have a bluebird day?!".

Then we went to a nice freshwater aquarium.

The Dodamsambong Peaks.

Then a short hike over to a natural bridge.

We spent the night in our first Korean hotel where there was a double bed for me and Brent and a separate sleeping room for the kids where they slept on pallets. That's the Korean way- sleeping on the heated floor. The next morning we checked out a fortress with a cool limestone cave (this portion of the trip fell victim of the technology tragedy mentioned above).

I had to include this picture from the internet. This is an areal view of Danyang which is situated on a bend in the river, sandwiched between 2 national parks.

We also went to Guinsa Temple on our second day where I had my camera. Here's G posing with the rat. Lucky for him, 2007 is the year of the rat!

Exploring the grounds.

It was huge. Lots of buildings built in a valley more or less. It was hard to get a picture of how it really was sandwiched between these hills.

See what I mean?

These two think they're so funny.
Found my Oklahoma.

For the rest of spring break we went out for happy meals, road the subway to the Embassy to have lunch with Daddy and made some treats out of my Food Network Magazines. The twins picked chocolate covered gummy worms (yes that was an actual recipe) and Grant picked a cake/bread bundt that had me up multiple times one night so it would rise, rest, bake and cool before our early breakfast. Next time I'll read the directions closer before I agree! Anyway you're going to have to imagine their sweet, proud little faces smiling at their creations.

Hayden and Colter got bunk beds.

Last night in cribs, last night sleeping together and first nap in big boy beds. Hush. I know I'm a sap.

There are a few pictures from our fun day at Lotte World. It's a nice indoor/outdoor amusement park in the middle of Seoul with lots of Disney rip-offs. Namely, a large princess castle (use your imagination again).

Grant & I loved this ride. It traveled up, then just dropped us straight down! Notice the barf shields.

Things have not changed too much since our trip to Disneyland last year. Hayden said that this (Indian Jones-ish knockoff ) ride was "horrible!!". (Yes, the only reason I still have this pic is because Brent and I get our thrills from laughing at our kids so we had to share this one with our family.)

He got revenge. Just kidding. Korea hosts several "trick eye museums" & he was more than willing to give us the 'ol stinkeye.

On Friday, we rested from all that fun and we made our bunny cake and dyed eggs for Easter.

The evolution of the King Family Bunny Cake. And the evolution of the King boys.

Then we had our 5th Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Eighteen kids and 420 eggs. It was fun hunting with our new friends.

My handsome little fellas on Easter Sunday.

We attended the 6:30 a.m. sunrise service. It wasn't on hay bales at the Taylor's- one of my favorite childhood memories.

Everything is blooming here. It's nice to see some color through the gray.

All the boys have modeled a bit. Hayden's first publication. Next, GQ!

He's even live on the net.

Then he had to go and scare me to death and throw up blood. So, he got his turn at the ER.

Back to his leopard loving self the next day.

I'm going to miss my little sidekicks next year. We also just enrolled them for kindergarten. I would say I need to get a hobby but really maybe I'll just be more productive with the hobbies I already have. I know you know what I'm talking about.

It was nice enough to eat outside one night. Not too cold, not too hot, pollution free days don't come around too often. So we'll take it!

We had some April Fools fun...

This one was for Brent's office....

...And this  foam "cookie" went in G's lunch. We got him good!

Over the weekend, everything has bloomed!

Had to catch this sweet moment of Grant reading the bible to brothers.

Cherry Blossoms!!

And then we had to be cheesy and grab a cherry blossom latte. Hey, when in Rome...

Then Grant had a student-led parent conference. I found this on his desk. Number three should be at the top of the list, but I like seeing my name above Dad's ;).

His 2 favorite places at school. The library....

...and gym.

A sample of his work in Korean class. Translation: top l-r, brothers, mom, dad; bottom l-r, grandmas, grandpas (he wanted me to know that he drew Papa with glasses and Grandpa with his hat) & him!

After the conferences, we had some bowling fun with our school friends.

Then there was......Blue sky!!! Yippeee!!! So we drove around for a few pics.

The twins and I tagged along on a little embassy spouse trip to Ikea and Costco.

The verdict- I still can't stand Costco. Sorry.

But rest assured, They do sell kimchi in bulk!

I've always said he looks like an angel when he sleeps. He has to. Because he spends a lot of waking hours being ugly sometimes. Like earlier this morning. At Costco. The entire time.

Six days later (after the barf ordeal) we were back at the ER.

I think he's going to make it.

So you see, it all ended up just fine. This post contains 69 pictures! The very thing I loathe (technology) has moved into my good graces again. Thanks for texting the pictures back everyone. As for the rest, we'll have to do it the old fashioned way and use our memory ;).
